This test took place from October 2 to 5, 2017. The material used was Highland Clay and had a Plasticity Index (PI) of 27, classified as a lean to fat clay (CH/CL), had 95.4% passing the No. 200 sieve, the maximum unit weight was 97.7 pounds per cubic feet, and a moisture content of 23.5%, 2.8% wet of optimum. The embankment was constructed using a pneumatic tamper to 90.8% compaction at optimum with approximately 1-inch lifts over a three-week period. The average void ratio was 0.76 and the average degree of saturation was 83.5. The embankment was 10 feet long (upstream to downstream), 1.5 feet wide, and 3 feet tall. The embankment was built using a stair step construction. The steps were removed prior to the test. The surface was not scarified prior to testing. The test crack was a 3/8-inch continuous crack both vertically and horizontally. Approximately halfway through the test, the reservoir level is increased to overtop the embankment long enough for a speed test to be conducted, at which point the reservoir level is decreased to no longer overtop the embankment. Speed tests were conducted throughout the experiment.\\r\\nThis video file contains an audio description.\", \"distribution\": [{\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://data.usbr.gov/catalog/7963/item/128440\", \"description\": \"Landing page for \\\"S&T Project 8284: Cracked Embankment Erosion Test 9 Video File\\\"\", \"mediaType\": \"text/html\", \"title\": \"RISE Item Details Page URL for \\\"S&T Project 8284: Cracked Embankment Erosion Test 9 Video File\\\"\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"description\": \"\\\"S&T Project 8284: Cracked Embankment Erosion Test 9 Video File\\\" as a MP4 file\", \"downloadURL\": \"https://data.usbr.gov/rise/content-rise-public/rise/catalog-item/binary/S&T Project 8284 Cracked Embankment Erosion Test 9 Video File.mp4\", \"mediaType\": \"video/mp4\", \"title\": \"MP4 File for \\\"S&T Project 8284: Cracked Embankment Erosion Test 9 Video File\\\"\"}], \"identifier\": \"https://datainventory.usbr.gov/rise/item/128440\", \"keyword\": [\"Concentrated Leak Erosion\", \"Cracked Embankment\", \"Erosion\", \"Gradient\", \"Hydraulic Shear Stress\", \"Internal Erosion\", \"Scour\"], \"landingPage\": \"https://data.usbr.gov/catalog/7963/item/128440\", \"modified\": \"2023-10-12T20:53:52Z\", \"publisher\": {\"@type\": \"org:Organization\", \"name\": \"Bureau of Reclamation\"}, \"spatial\": \"{\\\"type\\\":\\\"Point\\\",\\\"coordinates\\\":[-105.12194,39.7225]}\", \"title\": \"S&T Project 8284: Cracked Embankment Erosion Test 9 Video File\"}","source_transform":null,"status":"error"}
