The research was conducted at the Geotechnical Laboratory and Field Support (GLFS) group of the Bureau of Reclamation\\u2019 Technical Service Center (TSC) in Denver, CO by modifying existing equipment and controlling software. Four tests were conducted on a gap graded internally unstable soil. It was determined that internal erosion, if allowed to continue unimpeded, equilibrates to an end state condition resulting in the equilibration of hydraulic conductivity, height (or volume) change, and  stress conditions throughout the specimen in a rigid wall permeameter. Further research is needed to better define end state conditions for soils representing dams in Reclamation\\u2019s portfolio. The rigid cell permeameter is applicable for determining equilibrium states for hydraulic conductivity and final gradation. A flexible wall permeameter is required to determine the final volume change and mass loss at the end state of internal erosion and the effect of stress conditions on the end state parameters. \", \"distribution\": [{\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://data.usbr.gov/catalog/8023/item/128635\", \"description\": \"Landing page for \\\"S&T Project 20081 Final Report: Internal Erosion: Laboratory Testing to Identify End States in Internally Unstable Soils\\\"\", \"mediaType\": \"text/html\", \"title\": \"RISE Item Details Page URL for \\\"S&T Project 20081 Final Report: Internal Erosion: Laboratory Testing to Identify End States in Internally Unstable Soils\\\"\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"description\": \"\\\"S&T Project 20081 Final Report: Internal Erosion: Laboratory Testing to Identify End States in Internally Unstable Soils\\\" as a PDF file\", \"downloadURL\": \"https://data.usbr.gov/rise/content-rise-public/rise/catalog-item/binary/ST FInal Report_ST-2020-20081-01_508_signed.pdf\", \"mediaType\": \"application/pdf\", \"title\": \"PDF File for \\\"S&T Project 20081 Final Report: Internal Erosion: Laboratory Testing to Identify End States in Internally Unstable Soils\\\"\"}], \"identifier\": \"https://datainventory.usbr.gov/rise/item/128635\", \"keyword\": [\"Internal Erosion\", \"Internal Instability\", \"Internal Stability\", \"Suffosion\", \"Suffusion\"], \"landingPage\": \"https://data.usbr.gov/catalog/8023/item/128635\", \"modified\": \"2024-05-07T20:40:58Z\", \"publisher\": {\"@type\": \"org:Organization\", \"name\": \"Bureau of Reclamation\"}, \"spatial\": \"{\\\"type\\\":\\\"Polygon\\\",\\\"coordinates\\\":[[[-124.508,48.197],[-124.304,40.096],[-117.02,32.608],[-103.405,29.136],[-93.466,30.77],[-94.692,38.939],[-97.279,48.946],[-122.67,48.946],[-124.508,48.197]]]}\", \"title\": \"S&T Project 20081 Final Report: Internal Erosion: Laboratory Testing to Identify End States in Internally Unstable Soils\"}","source_transform":null,"status":"error"}
